When I bought the Canon Pixma MP145 earlier on this year at a fair, I thought it would have been perfect for my study needs. It was cheap and had 3-in-1 (scan,copy,print) functions, perfect for churning out chunks of lecture slides. When I bought the cartridge, I had a shock. $29.90 for a black ink cartridge which depleted so fast!

This week, the cartridge went empty again. So I decided to say SCREW YOU to original cartridges. Why do I need high quality ink for? I'm going to end up throwing away all the slides at the end of the year! And I headed down to Sim Lim to get some SEPOM cartridges. I had a damn tough time finding the shops which sold those refills, and when I did, they didn't have any refills for the MP145. At that point of time, SEPOM was the only brand I knew which provided cartridge refilling solutions.

Jessie spotted Inkstation from far, and decided that we try it out. I bought a pack of 3 black ink refills for $10. For a $10 product, the customer service was excellent. The sales rep took a dummy set, and explained the refilling process in detail. He also assured me that if the cartridge happens to screw up (rarely though), just buy the original cartridge then follow the same steps to refill it when it's empty.

I went home, and did all the refilling in less than 5 minutes. No injections required!

Step 1 : Assemble everything on the table, including the empty black ink cartridge.

Step 2 : Place the cartridge into the base.

Step 3 : Using the screw, make a hole through the cartridge.

Step 4 : Empty the refill pack into the cartridge.

Step 5 : Tape the hole up with a sticker. Job done!

The only problem I've encountered so far is that the ink level on the printer display is always shown as EMPTY. I'll have to make do with that, and pop in another refill when my printouts start fading. Other than that, it's absolutely worth the money.
